A whistleblower who sat on the panel of the government inquiry into child abuse has told that press that was a victim of government intimidation intended to silence her.
Journalist, Sharon Evans, leader of the child protection charity dotcom, was on the panel setup to investigate issues surrounding widespread child abuse in Britain.
Panelists were forced to sign a contract containing clauses which were clearly designed to encourage discretion. This was also followed by a group agreement which meant that no information would be released except by consensus. However, Sharon Evans alleges that this documents were used to silence the panel and essentially undermine the inquiry when the names of some very well known public figures were implicated in evidence presented to the panel after she took this information back to the panel. The Home Office, then led by Theresa May, appear to have set out to ensure that, the inquiry, though termed public, was to be anything but.
Out of concern that many months passed with no action, a letter was written to Theresa May, then Home Secretary, expressing concern at the lack of action as a result of these serious allegations. Subsequently, Sharon Evans was ‘taken aside’ by Ben Emmerson QU, liaison between the panel and the Home Officer and advisor to the Home Secretary at which time she was told that Theresa May would be Prime Minister and that if did not ‘toe the line’ or spoke out she would be publicly discredited. The Home Secretary had told the public and the panel that survivors of these abuses would be at the heart of the inquiry. In reality, based upon the conduct and apparent commitment, it seems to have been anything but, even without the recent allegations.
One can only speculate about just how much damage such revelations might have done to Theresa May’s leadership bid at that time but one does not have to look hard to imagine a motive.
Since then the entire country has begun to suspect that this is a Prime Minister that cannot be trusted. But it seems that the Conservative party may have had good cause to have been far more concerned, far earlier.
We can only hope that even in these times where a dark cabal in office, work hard to undermine democracy in the UK, that the majority of Ministers DO take child abuse seriously and would not elect a leader whose under performance had allowed Britain to become famous worldwide as a country that allows children to be abused. This may come as no surprise to many that wondered just how these gangs were still able to operate with seeming impunity for so long in so many British cities.
Sharon Evans alleges that the QC to the enquiry ‘Ben Emerson’ advisor to Theresa May and liaison between the Home Office and the inquiry, ‘pulled her aside’ and told her that she should the Home Office to manage the message to the public.
It is further claimed that Ms Evans has a 23 page document which documents what answers she would be allowed to give to the enquiry. She was even given the responses that she MUST give to the parliamentary committee overseeing the inquiry. It is against the law to give anything but the truth to a parliamentary committee.
Clearly, manipulating what is arguably the most important public inquiry for decades would be an incredibly heinous act which one would have thought, would certainly lead to dismissal even in the corrupt climate that seems to exist in the UK today. Surely this is something that any decent human being in Britain that isn’t actually a pedophile or engaged in protecting one, can agree on, be it ‘Brexiteer’ or ‘Remainer’ alike?
At the time, Ms Evans subsequently went to the clerk of the parliamentary committee to inform them them that she was not able to comply with her obligations causing a great deal of concern which was raised to then Chairman of the committee, Sir Keith Vaz. Sir Vaz informed her and the panel that they would be in contempt of parliament if they did not answer truthfully.
Other members of the panel have voiced various concerns about this inquiry with Professor Alexis Jones, author of the report concerning the 1400 victims of child sex abuse in the Rotherham case, commenting that there was a strong public perception that the independent panel was not focused or well led.
This inquiry currently has NO Chairman after TWO Chairman appointed by Mrs May were forced to step down due to connections with the establishment. Clearly there is something very wrong with this inquiry.
At which point she was told she MUST comply with the law and give truthful and accurate information to the committee. Years later, we are no further forward in actually protecting children and making sure this scandals are a thing of the past. Excuses, lies and the early release of even the worst of those finally imprisoned, more than a decade before minimum release dates expired, have followed.
Is any child safe from high level pedophiles in a Britain where, if these allegations are true, our Prime Minister has covered up for powerful child abusers, even possible? While some members of the panel appear to be more confident than others in the competence and commitment to this inquiry, the result and the lack of leadership seem to speak volumes.
