The ‘West’ has a China problem.

THE WEST’S CHINA PROBLEM

America, and indeed, the world, has a China problem, and it doesn’t stop at whuflu.  Indeed, this may just be the vanguard of what plagues the CCP choose to unleash next. Having proven to be, a most profitable enterprise, and saving the country from collapse in the wonderful ponzi scheme which is modern China, it stove off a reckoning to a later date. The country, having seemingly legitimately, have purchased western brands manufacturing in the country for cents upon the dollar. This is just what we know. Where is the outrage from western powers?  A little like a terrible outbreak of the clap in a seniors dormitory, it risks being hidden because of the disgrace of its existence because it demonstrates their incompetence in leadership.

It never needed to get this far.

While everyone worried about suspected Russian influence in recent years, no one seemed willing to confront the real and present danger. So, Chinese influence has run wild with unprecedented operations all across the western world.

The whole scenario is somewhat reminiscent of the build-up of the National German Workers Party before world war two, as it began to show it’s true colours, and yet, went largely unchallenged by the west though many wise heads were screaming the alarm.  Leading us to the calamity that came as a result. Aggressive nations will not stop because of a treaty, or because you ask nicely. This could be truer than ever in this case. Is there still time for that ‘stitch in time that saves nine?’. Or are we already too late?  Has Chinese influence already gone so far as to become unstoppable?  It certainly seems to reach to the very top tier of power in some western countries at this point.

If there is one specific hallmark of Chinese foreign trade policy, it is that no intellectual property is safe. There are widely reported incentives for members of the Chinese technological community to steal technology in order to net a big payday and various outrageous acts of blatant industrial espionage.

Why spend billions in research and development when you can steal it for virtually nothing and gain what is already established as a leading technology?

In 2015, China was behind a massive hacking attack of the records in the Office of Personnel Management. This attack was so far-reaching and damaging, experts called it out as a ‘Cyber Pearl Harbour’. Vast numbers of federal personnel records were stolen presenting an absolute treasure trove for blackmailers and identity thieves or state actors wishing to exert influence.

The 120 plus pages of questions also included civil lawsuits, divorce information, Social Security numbers and information on friends, spouses, cohabitants and relatives.

In 2018, the ‘Politico’ website reported; Chinese influence operations throughout the United States, and especially in California, where the Chinese Ministry of State Security has a dedicated unit.

Given the recent unprecedented leak of information concerning the sheer numbers of CCP registered supporters around the world as disclosed by a former senior security agent of the CCP, we now know just how much power and support China has.  That leak contained the details of 1.95 Million registered supporters around the world, with concerntrations in the UK and US in particular, many of them in sensitive or privileged positions in government, in corporations and all across the public and private section, from the colleague campus to the board room.

Which in itself threatens an existential crisis. Are western companies worth what we believe them to be if they have allowed what may be seen as their number one asset, their intellectual property, to be compromised.  This is far from over and for some, the short term band aid presented by low cost outsourcing may be the decision that destroys many a career.  If I were a shareholder in such a business, I would feel badly let down and would be demanding it.

The US State Department ordered the Chinese government’s Houston consulate closed due to a range of hostile activities including spying and theft of intellectual property.  The consulates have also been subject to, currently unconfirmed, reports that it was involved in promoting civil unrest in American cities.

Over recent years there has arrest after arrest of US professors in the pay of the Chinese government. In 2020, 14 academics were arrested for alleged illegal Chinese ties from the University of Kansas to the so called ‘Ivy league’.  Thanks to them, not quite so lauded anymore.

Many universities receive substantial funding from China in a clear attempt to purchase access to students and influence over what is taught.  It is also common to find that Chinese students are being enrolled en masse at the Chinese government expense providing a nucleus around which to build pro Chinese activism and propaganda.

Such love and devotion for one’s people seems at odds with the general modus operandi of the CCP.  You have to wonder, why the break from the normal pattern of behaviour? This is the government that usually, utterly destroys people that object to it.

Then there is the murky world of the so called, ‘Confucius Institutes’, organisations known to target and spread Chinese propaganda and influence on campus. It will be interesting to understand just how many university administrators and professors appear on the recently leaked register of CCP supporters with tied to this blatantly propoganist extension of the CCP.

Recently. Columbia President Lee Bollinger called on the incoming Biden administration to end surveillance of Chinese nationals, even as Columbia failed to disclose a 1 million dollar payment from a Chinese source. Imagine that!, what a coincidence!.  A pity that charges of treason or supporting a hostile foreign power have yet to be levelled. Rehardless, it is a good example of the danger and indeed, the potential value for money, where you have a University President taking the money, and then calling for a dramatic change in US policy which seems almost unarguably against the national interest of the US is self explanatory.

Now we have a new Whitehouse, with senior officials with significant Chinese ties, leading to the new POTUS becoming a meme as ‘Beijing Biden’.: There was that embarrassing pre-election scandal involving Hunter Biden on which the Democrats, as ever, worked with big tech to silence. With aid from most of the mainstream media. The links between the democrats and the CCP are well documented and more information comes to light on a continual basis.  A payment through a company owned by a senator or governor here, interests in a mutual business there, and on and on it goes. It seems that many of those in power just cannot resist Chinese money.  They must be held accountable and removed from office before the foundations of democracy and the economy are permanently destroyed. Indeed, so much harm has been done already, based just upon what we know, that this is nothing less than a battle for survival.

That battle has to be fought on the basis of a check upon the power of Big Tech and mainstream media.  Democracy requires access to factual and unbiased information. Who can make an informed choice with only half of the information necessary?  It is time to move forward from the senate hearings and act with decisive policy to stop the modern day ‘robber barons’ of Silicon Valley.

The future under the Biden administration has not started well when it comes to checking China’s influence upon the US.  Within his first week in office, Biden repealed the Trump order preventing Chinese companies investing in US power production.   Surely one of the worst possible things achieved in just the first damaging week of his Presidency.  The US now has a fundamental security ‘Achilles Heel’ and what is sure to be a greatly increased economic risk.

If the new President of the United States can achieve this for his friends in a week, the level of damage that could be done in four years is impossible to calculate,  Though as yet unconfirmed, it is reported that among the documents contained on the hard drive of POTUS son, among various images of his abuse of various women and children was a contract for $10 Million dollars, paid as a signing bonus for his role in brokering a $4.5 Billion agreement for Ukrainian and Kazakh natural gas. The alleged agreement is said to be signed by Hunter Biden, Xi Zin Ping himself and the Chinese Vice President, Wang Quishan. We await the publication of, and confirmation of, much of the contents of those hard drives but given the prevailing wind in the Whitehouse, very much doubt that this will ever come to light. The lunatics wield the power today. Interesting times ahead. But would even child abuse and clear evidence of massive corruption have stopped the sort of people that voted for Biden, from having voted for him? It is likely we will not know until 2024.  One thing notable over the last couple of decades is that extremists on the left do not much care for children and are more than happy sacrifice them or their future for their warped ideology.

It is the fate of the 74 million the is painful to witness. Many will have swallowed down some bitter medicine and voted for former President Trump though they found the prospect distasteful to some extent.  Choosing to judge him on his achievements, rather than his often bizarre tweets. Recognising that they would prefer to have some security and a job rather than unbudgeted promises, ideology, and the inevitable risk of consequences such as soaring unemployment. Ironically, by the time the consequences bite, it will be too late. More jobs will inevtiably go to China, US security will be perhaps irredeemably compromised, and voters will be unwittingly voting Big Tech into office whatever they believe they are doing unless we all act to alter our trajectory now.
